U20 Disability Age Group Championships Bedford

Emily competed here over the week 26/27 August. We traveled early on Saturday morning setting off at 430 to get there at 9, rested for a bit then to warm up before her 200m.  The race was a solid race with 5 other girls in it with Emily coming home in 3rd place in a time of 31.87s.  Although Emily finished 3rd she was moved down a place due to the rasa points system for disability sport. The girl who won the race actually won by 2 1/2 seconds but was demoted to 3rd and was suitably gutted whilst on the podium to collect her bronze medal.

Emilys second event was the long jump. A consistent best of jumps with a best of 3.39m to finish in second place but once again moved down to 3rd due to the rasa points system. A bronze medal. A goods days work in perfect weather conditions.

Sunday and again perfect conditions , warm and sunny with no wind  . The shot put was Emily’s last event. Emily has won this competition for the last three years and was determined not do it again. Last year Emily threw a best of 6.87m . Since last summer and during the winter indoor season Emily has worked very hard on her shot put and this has showed with her performances since then with a string of big pbs . Today’s 6 throws were big with a best of 8.68m which is just short of her PB. A gold medal.

Very pleased with the weekends work and we move onto the UK School Games next week.
