Just back from th EIS in Sheffield where Emily competed this weekend. A good solid weekends competition started just after 2.20 on Saturday afternoon with the 60m. Emily was in heat 5 and put in a creditable performance with a time of 9.50s.
Straight over to the long jump for a 3 o’clock start. Two pools of athletes (19 competors) which meant Emily had to finish in the top eight over all to secure a further three extra jumps after the first three. Emily’s best jump was 3.60m her third best ever jump. Sadly no extra jumps.
On to Sunday. Arrived early to cheer fellow Gateshead Harriers on in various events then to warm up ready for a 1210 start in the shot putt. A good solid set of throws resulting in a best of 8.54m meant Emily finished sixth overall in an able bodied competition. Really happy with that and this weekend.
Great to see so many fellow northern athletes and coaches in Sheffield. A good weekend had by all.
