Typhoo National Disability Championships.

Emily will be competing in her last ever championships ( formally known as the DSE Championships)this coming weekend 7/8 July. These championships are open to disabled athletes from the age of 10 -U20 so this means Emily will be too old to compete next year. The event is held at Warwick University in Coventry. Emily will be competing for her club Gateshead Harriers as part of Team North East whom in the past have the overall championship a good few times before.

This competition is the only compertition that as parents we don’t go to although we did go to the first one when Emily competed as a guest aged 9 a long time ago. She will be competing with her old school friends for the last time as now Emily attends Gateshead Acadamy of Sport and is about to go  into her second year in September.

Emily travels down on Friday with her old school friends  at lunch time and returns around early  Sunday evening. Emilys  events are 100m at 1155am on Saturday followed by the discus at 1pm . On Sunday is doing the shot put at 945 am and possibly some sort of relay.

The weekends weather looks fantastic so if anybody who is down that way get yourselves there and cheer team north east on. I’m sure there might be a surprise or two. Good luck Emily Stewart and Team North East.
