Typhoo National Disability Championship

Emily has had a fantastic weekend at her last ever Typhoo National Disability Championship in Warwick . We had a surprise for her. It’s the only competition that as parents we don’t go to so Emily went down with her former school on Friday not knowing that we were going down first thing Saturday morning.

We got  there early enough to keep out of her way whilst she warmed up for her first event , the 100m. She even walked passed me at one point not even looking at me . Anyway a fantastic 100m and Emily won the gold in a very good time of 15.38s. We eventually got rumbled while we were in the cafe getting a drink and Emily walked in. Hahaha.

Anyway next event the discus. A steady set of throws resulting in Emily getting another gold with a distance of 15.46m. That’s the first day over with.

Sunday, an early start. Shot put and again a fantast set of throws with a seasons best of 8.86m getting another gold medal. Next up the 4x400m relay. Emily was running the final leg and was about 35-40 metres behind and only just got pipped on the line to earn a silver medal for the team.

Finally Emily’s last event the 4x400m relay . Again a fine run to win the race and claim another gold medal. And to top it all off Team Nort East won the National Championship again.

4 gold medals and a silver medal is a fantastic weekends work in very different conditions. It was baking hot at 30 degree heat and was tough for all Emily’s team mates but it’s that sort of conditions that Emily will have to get used to in Barcelona for the World Games in August.

So back to hard training for the next 2 weeks before the next competition at Monkton .
