Anniversary Games at the London Stadium.

Emily had an absolutely fantastic time at the Anniversary Games. We dropped Emily off on the Saturday afternoon at the British Athletics hotel after some very brief sightseeing of Tower Bridge and The Tower Of London. Emily met up with a few fellow Para athletes as we headed across London to our hotel in Stratford to await Emilys coach Janice Kaufman who had been at a prior engagement earlier in the day.

Sunday. Race Day. Janice left our hotel to get back across London to accompany Emily throughout the day to see her through warm up and make sure she was ready to compete. We also had left the hotel to walk to the Olympic park to have a look around before the gates open. 11 oclock and we were in. Got to our seats and the first thing I noticed was it didn’t seem to be a huge place. Might have just been me though.

12 oclock saw the first events  basicly  4×100 relay races just to get the increasing crowd warmed up. As it approached race time we saw Emily heading out along edge of track towards the 200m start line. it was quite an emotional site for us seeing Emily walking  out the in the Olympic Stadium  with the other girls.

Emilys race started bang on time and after her usual powerfull bend saw Emily come home to finish a very creditable 4th pace in a field of 5 brits and 2 German athletes.

Emilys time was a seasons best of 31.07 seconds.

An amazing day for us and especially Emily who handled the whole occasion like she handles every other competition she does. Hopefully there will be other big occasions in the future like this.

Next competition is at Monkton Stadium for the NEGP 5.
